In number areas in Kabul, SESA donated engineering input to provide free installation, training and support services to two refugee centers supporting women and children in need. Previously, these facilities could afford to run diesel generators only intermittently, leading to additional hardship for the women inhabitants, particularly in caring for small children.
These installations also provide solar hot water units and 24-hour power supply to the facilities. These two installations were both supported by New Zealand-based agencies, namely the New Zealand Embassy to Afghanistan and the Timaru Central Rotary Club.
Given the resources, SESA hopes to do more of this type of work.
